| About the Databases | ||||||||
Gale Group InfoTrac, Micromedia CBCA (Canadian Business and Current Affairs), Repère, and Proquest Canadian Newsstand Dailies databases are provided to provincially funded K-12 Saskatchewan schools, as well as independent schools offering K-12 courses. Funding is provided through Saskatchewan's Multitype Library System. In total, these databases provide access to more than 4,500 journal and newspaper titles. InfoTrac allows you to search electronic databases of more than 2300 full text magazines, journals and reference sources. The 15 databases include databases such as: Kid's Edition, Student Edition, General Reference Gold, CPI.Q (Canadian Periodicals), InfoTrac OneFile, Literature Resource Center, Health and Wellness Resource Center, and Expanded Academic ASAP. CBCA (Canadian Business and Current Affairs) combines a high quality indexing and abstracting database. With the fulltext of 150 Canadian periodicals, sources of current affairs information, indexing of over 600 periodicals, and eight daily news sources, CBCA Fulltext Reference is a comprehensive source of Canadian information. Repère Fulltext offers more than 255,000 references to articles from French-language periodicals published since 1980. With over 500 journals indexed, publications include all of the major Canadian French language titles in addition to articles published in France, Belgium and Switzerland. Repère also offers fulltext for 8,600 articles appearing in approximately 41 Quebec periodicals. Canadian Newsstand Dailies contains 13 Canadian major dailies including the Saskatoon Star Phoenix and Regina Leader Post. Prairie Regional newspapers will be added in 2003. Schools with high speed Internet service such as through CommunityNet access the databases through the Provincial Libraries. Schools with dial-up service access the databases through the Saskatchewan Learning website. In this case, a password is required for access.
